Mother Love Herb Company

Thirty years ago, when Motherlove’s founder Kathryn Higgin’s passion for plants inspired her to create herbal products for her own pregnancy, it was her dream for all mothers to someday have safe, effective, organic herbal products available for use with their own pregnancies and babies.

Over the course of three decades, Motherlove Herbal Company has grown from Kathryn’s kitchen to a large and modern USDA-certified organic manufacturing facility. It also encompasses a 120-acre organic farm on Colorado’s Front Range, where the company continues her legacy of growing organic herbs and educating the community on their uses.

Motherlove is the first specialty manufacturer of herbal products for pregnancy and breastfeeding, whose products are now sold in hospitals, pharmacies, natural food stores and specialty retailers in more than 40 countries.

Motherlove has become the trusted industry leader for safe and effective, organic herbal pregnancy and breastfeeding support products that are recommended by lactation consultants and healthcare professionals everywhere.

Natural Herbal Living Magazine is an e-zine dedicated to helping you develop a relationship with one herb a month. In a self-guided herbal education people tend to be disconnected from the individual herbs and how they work independently from others. By just following recipes and not understanding how each works individually, we have a stunted appreciation for the true power of plants.

In each issue we will discuss one herb on a deep and intrinsic level; how it works, the constituents, safety considerations, and how several experienced herbalists use it.

  • Each issue may contain:

  • Herbal monograph describing the history, uses, and safety considerations of the herb of the month. Essential oil profile describing the chemical constituents, medicinal uses, and safety information. Flower essence profile describing the energetic properties of the flower essences from the herb of the month.

  • Various herbal recipes from experienced and talented herbalists illustrating the many uses of the herb of the monthly herb while discussing other herbal allies that go well with it.

  • Ethnographic information about the herb, its historical and traditional uses.

  • Information regarding the seasons from planting in the spring, to harvesting in the fall, herbalists have always been attuned to the seasons. Understanding the seasonal pulls of herbalism helps us maintain a grounded view and a healthy relationship with the earth.

Natural Herbal Living also provides an addtional Educational Herb Box for those who want to take their herbal education to the next level, through herb boxes. The herb boxes are a way to get the featured "herb of the month", and the ingredients to make delightful things with each herb, by making recipes found in our monthly magazine issues. This is a fantastic way to touch, taste, feel and smell each herb and how it works in each individuals unique body. The herb boxes are only available in the US at this time.

Sponsorship Opportunities

As you well know, the mountain west region of the United States has long been home to a vibrant and always growing community of both amature herb enthusiasts and herbal professionals. While there are quality herbal conferences taking place around the country, there has been no regular opportunity for herbalists to congregate in the beautiful Rocky Mountains to experience community, education, and the chance to play with the incredible diversity of the healing plants our region offers.

With this thought in mind, Natural Herbal Living is excited to present the first annual Mountain West Herb Conference, to be held on June 16-19th in Breckenridge, Colorado. This herb conference will focus on the people, plants, and land in the mountain ranges throughout the western US, Canada and Mexico. Looking to bio-regional herbalism, there will be special attention paid to the plants and people of the land while discussing the environmental changes and trends we are seeing throughout the range. The conference will feature classes on bio-regional herbalism, traditional medicine making, the latest research in the herbal world, ecology, ethical wild crafting and more, all facilitated by respected herbal practitioners and educators.

Natural Herbal Living is actively seeking partners to help create the first of many annual conferences that will provide lasting value to all who attend, be it students, professionals or herbal enterprises. We wish to build meaningful, long term relationships with our partners in order to make the Mountain West Herb Conference an anticipated addition to the current herb conference offerings.

If you would like more information about sponsorship opportunities, we look forward to discussing opportunities for collaboration. Please contact Amanda Klenner at naturalherballiving@gmail.com.

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”
